How it works

Receive a friendly visitor at home or in a aged care facility through the government-funded Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme. Volunteers visit for 30 minutes a week for six months, building meaningful friendships over time. As the friendship grows, so does the time spent together.

To be eligible for the program:

  • You must be over 65 years old;
  • Be receiving or approved for a home care funding package; or
  • Be living in residential aged care.

The power of a friendly visit

Staying connected has incredible health benefits. As we age, feelings of isolation and loneliness can arise, but this FREE program offers a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with your community. Benefits include:

Increased self-esteem and feeling of wellbeing

New friendship, reducing loneliness and isolation

Lower risk of depression, dementia, and even heart disease

What to expect

We match seniors with volunteers who share their interests for regular companionship and support.

Your visit might include:

  • Chats over a cuppa – Share stories, play cards, and enjoy good company.
  • Home activities together – Light gardening, small tasks, or cooking.
  • Tech support – Help with phones, tablets, or computers.
  • Friendly calls – Check-ins for a chat and a laugh.

The possibilities are endless! Get in touch, and we’ll find the perfect match for you.
