Wesley Mission Queensland has been reaccredited against ISO 27001 certification

We’re proud to announce that Wesley Mission Queensland (WMQ) has been reaccredited against ISO 27001 certification, the globally recognised standard for an information security management system (ISMS).

An ISMS is a framework of policies and procedures that includes all legal, physical and technical controls involved in an organisation's information risk management processes. WMQ first acquired an ISMS in 2011 to create an organisational policy framework that enabled us to include security as part of our service design process.

Being reaccredited in ISO 27001 demonstrates that we are meeting the stringent requirements of this standard and following international best practice to effectively secure our information assets.

ISO 27001 certification requires that management:

  • Systematically examine the organisation's information security risks, taking account of the threats, vulnerabilities, and impacts.
  • Design and implement a coherent and comprehensive suite of information security controls and/or other forms of risk treatment (such as risk avoidance or risk transfer) to address those risks that are deemed unacceptable.
  • Adopt an overarching management process to ensure that the information security controls continue to meet the organisation's information security needs on an ongoing basis.

In today’s digital landscape, data breaches and cyber threats are growing concerns. As businesses rely more on technology and share information digitally, the risks to data security multiply.
