NAIDOC Week brings First Nations menu to aged care homes

Tags: Diversity and Inclusion, Residential Aged Care

Wesley Mission Queensland's  Dining Services celebrated NAIDOC Week with a First Nations inspired menu. On Thursday 11 July, our aged care residents enjoyed meals prepared using Indigenous culinary flavours, from saltbush spices to bush tomatoes.

With this year’s NAIDOC theme celebrating 'Blak, Loud and Proud' - encapsulating  the unapologetic celebration of Indigenous identity, the idea to celebrate through our menu choices was something I was really passionate about. Australia's native ingredients are not only healthy, but also offer a diverse flavour, sharing a taste of the country. I hope the plates of fresh local produce and bush tucker were enjoyed by all.
